When we were kids and even up to this day, candy bars have always been a crowd favorite. Halloweens are never complete without the candy bars we all love and long for. Other occasions can also be made special with some candy bars!
But why are candy bars so good? It really depends on your preference, but we everyone has a favorite! Candy bars are sweet treat for children and adults alike, and they have always been popular all over the world. According to our friends at Everyday Health, the history of candy bars actually began in 1847. The first every chocolate bar was made in Britain by Joseph Fry and his son, who pressed a paste made of cocoa powder and sugar into a bar shape. The chocolate bar was then further developed in 1849 when John Cadbury introduced his brand of the chocolate bar. Fry and Cadbury later joined forces to become great chocolate confectioners. The first every milk chocolate bar was made by Henry Nestle and Daniel Peter, and was created by adding milk to the traditional chocolate recipe. This results in a creamier taste and smoother texture.
During World War I, chocolate bars gained huge interest as the American government began buying up large quantities of chocolate in 20- to 40-pound hunks. These huge blocks of chocolate were used to provide candy bars for the soldiers fighting overseas. The candy remained in demand after the war, as the returning soldiers had grown accustomed to the sweet treat. More than 40,000 different candy bar varieties appeared after the end of the war to meet the demands of the chocolate-hungry public.
Later on, a lot of variants of sweets and treats have been created (lollipops
, hard candies, etc), and people love them all! We are very honored to be part of the Candy Community, and it's the best. But going back to the question: why are candy bars so good? Some people don't really like chocolate, but still enjoy a candy bar once in a while. It's because it gives us that feeling of being strangely reminiscent of the old days. There have been so many occasions in the past wherein candy bars are enjoyed by friends, families and loved ones, and enjoying one once in a while just brings us back to those good times.
What do you think? We would love to know why you love candy bars so much and what your favorites are!
